Making the Most of McAuliffe
Making the most of McAuliffe throughout the school year . . .
includes weaving your conference experience into a comprehensive professional development plan for you, your school, or your district. NHSTE, in partnership with other state organizations such as NHSAA, the NHDOE, the LESCN professional development centers, ATECH, and SERESC, Inc, is making that easier every year!

The following Conference Extensions are currently planned . . .
Continuing in 2009-2010 ~ Monthly Geek Meets
In 2008, Pam McLeod began the "Geek Meet" events to support the growing technical needs of our systems, network, and infrastructure admin-istrators. Generally held at schools around the state on the second Friday of each month, the Geek Meets provide an important networking opportunity - no pun intended! Details for these meetings are still in the development stages but proposed topics include:
  • Firewalls and networking tools
  • Enterprise wireless systems
  • Database systems to support data-driven instruction
  • Virtualization
  • SharePoint Server
  • Windows 7 deployment and imaging
Mark your calendar: proposed dates for 2010-2011 are 10/8, 11/12 12/10, 1/14, 2/11, 3/11, 4/8, & 5/13.
If you have ideas or are willing to host a Geek Meet at your school/district, please contact Linda Heuer (linda.heuer@timberlane.net) as we are still shaping the schedule and identifying topics for the coming year.

Tech Coordinators SIG ~ Keeping Ahead of the Curve Series
NHSTE is excited to welcome Linda Heuer as the new chairperson to lead the Tech Coordinators SIG forward. Linda is the Technology Coordinator/ Curriculum Integration for the Timberland Regional School District.

Please contact Linda Heuer at linda.heuer@timberlane.net if you have a speaker or topic to suggest.
Some of the potential topics suggested for the NHSTE TC SIG meetings for 2010~2011 include.

  • Strategies for integrating mobile computing devices from home with the district network
  • Addressing cyberbullying in our schools
