Roots and Wings and Other Things
Roots and Wings and Other Things is a serio-comic journey in story form inside the over-caffeinated mind of a Superintendent as he ponders the meaning and motivations behind school reform initiatives; the missing ingredient in school reform; the impact a core group of educators had on a student; what he believes are the two guiding principles of public education; and why pubic education and educators are the key to sustained evolutionary change.

Student Safety, & Creating Local Policies
Hear how the Governor and Attorney General are addressing Internet safety, cyberbullying, and related issues that impact children and schools. Appointed in June 2007 to the position of Internet Crimes Prosecutor, Attorney Carillo shares what educators need to know from the legal perspective on these critical topics. Joining Attorney Carillo is Matt Upton, one of NH's top school attorneys. This presentation focuses on creating and implementing workable local policy and practices that not only protect children but are also manageable for schools.

Create, Circulate, Connect, & Collaborate
Project New Media Literacies (NML) is a research initiative based within MIT's Comparative Media Studies program that is exploring how we might best equip young people with the social skills and cultural competencies required to become full participants in an emergent media landscape. The project also focuses on raising public understanding about what it means to be literate in a globally interconnected, multicultural world. Come hear about this exciting project and how their research impacts the K-12 classroom from one of the co-directors.
