Despite being "digital natives," ALL students struggle with discerning the relevance of digital information that they find on the open Internet, AND a majority of our teachers struggle to teach the strategies students need to navigate this infinite stream of information. In this session, we will discuss the rapidly changing landscape of information literacy and will evaluate why some of the tried and true strategies that we've been teaching for web searches simply aren't adequate in today's digital environments. Most importantly, we will outline our ongoing, research-based pilot program in the Pelham School District to help both our teachers and our students to build the 22nd century learning skills necessary to master their digital ecosystem. |
