About the MITI Master It & Take It Initiative . . .
New Hampshire educators are amazingly creative at using the teaching resources available to them, and we have always highlighted these creative teaching and learning strategies in our McAuliffe Stars sessions. NHSTE leadership also understands that to embrace new teaching and learning resources, educators need opportunities to explore and master these resources. The MITI – Master It & Take It – workshops are designed to provide educators with both the exposure and training necessary to investigate the potential of existing and emerging learning devices.
We are excited to offer the following Monday PreConference workshops in BOTH MITI and BYOD formats:

PreC02 ~ Expanding Literacy: Digital Storytelling for the Classroom
Storytelling is a collaborative process of creating narratives using imagery, text, sound, and music. Learn to lead your students in the creation of short video and audio stories that communicate curricular substance. The dialogues and voices that propel our current culture are primarily happening inside of a digital platform of print, visuals, and sound, thus our students need to be prepared to be productive and articulate participants on this digital platform. In order to guide students through this research-driven and creative process, you do not need to understand a thing about media production! Come away from this workshop with 1) a re-imagined understanding of the educational value of students collaborating to develop, create, and produce video and audio narratives; 2) clear and practical guidelines for how to integrate this approach in your educational settings; and 3) knowledge, activities, and resources that support this approach. Registrants for BOTH formats receive a copy of Expanding Literacy: Bringing Digital Storytelling into Your Classroom by the presenter, Brett Pierce, previously a Sesame Street collaborator. MITI registration includes a school level subscription to either School Competitions or Library of Projects ~ your choice ($250 value).
